I’ve spent my whole career working in open source. The sense of gratification you get when people appreciate and use your work makes it all worth it. I honestly can’t imagine doing anything closed source.

@supabase has acquired Triplit, an offline-first database @matthew_linkous is joining to work on integrations. We will open source everything & Matt will spend time documenting the patterns used. We hope this knowledge will spark new ideas in the offline-first community

The sunset in this city is something else.

Yeah, Lime costed $6 for 8 minutes. Waymo, on the other hand, costed $45, so I decided to pass on that. We are talking about a 3km ride.

The peak American experience. I tried to rely on public transport to reach my destination, so I departed 20 minutes earlier. Unfortunately, the tram didn’t arrive, and I had to resort to running with a scooter around the city, risking an accident.

This is the internet speed of my hotel in SF. Every single time I travel to the US it feels like I am back in 2010.

All I can say is: “what a time to be alive”.

On a side note, because of an irresponsible bus driver, we nearly crashed into it. The Waymo handled the situation better than any human could have done. Instant reaction time, perfectly calculated path, and not a single time the car was unsure of the maneuver.

Overall, I see no upside to a normal taxi anymore, for real. And other people seem to think the same. I only heard “I will take a Waymo” since being here. And it’s not about the tech, yeah, at first it’s cool and you always want to use it, but it’s just much better.

- You can zone out and take a nap without being worried that something happens to you. - You can follow the ride, and you know that the Waymo is going to take the street that it has scheduled and not do whatever it wants like a taxi driver that wants to charge you more.

Not to mention all the things that you can’t do with a normal taxi: - It can have temperature and sound presets for you that are ready once you enter. - You can listen to your own music without being annoyed by the driver’s music.

Being driven by a computer that is always respectful, calculated, doesn’t get angry, doesn’t try to scam you, and doesn’t drive aggressively is such a big deal.

After having used @Waymo, I can’t really go back to a normal taxi ride. The service is phenomenal, from the UX of the app to the car UI. It’s the most well-designed and premium transportation experience I have ever had.
