I think Carl Weathers was right. Rocky III is the best Rocky sequel. It says something different to all the other sequels. Plus you’ve got a never better Mr T.

Stallone is of course wonderful in Copland. Particularly in the scene with De Niro eating the sandwich. But you must check out Nighthawks. If you’ve never seen it, it’s a real gem.

The Big Lebowski is the Coen Brothers best film. The Dude abides.

Why wasn’t Rambo III (1988) called First Blood Part III? It still irks me to this day.

If there’s any question about Stallone’s acting ability outside of Rocky and First Blood, the film you really need to see is, Nighthawks. He’s great in it.

If I can only take 3 Tarantino films that he’s either written and/or directed to my movie desert island, then True Romance would absolutely be one of them. As a writer it’s some of his best work.

Danny Elfman’s original Batman (1989) score is still the definitive Batman score. It makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up to this day.

The best original song from a movie has to be Bryan Adams “(Everything I do) I Do It For You” from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. How that song never made it to Number 1 is beyond me.

Jackie Brown is of course Tarantino’s best film.

I saw Gary Oldman sitting in a coffee shop on Melrose in Los Angeles back in the 90s when I was working for MTV. He was drinking a massive orange juice and reading a newspaper. I was too nervous to say hello. I wanted to say, I loved you in Leon. Possibly his best performance.

The Hateful Eight is hands down Tarantino’s best film since Jackie Brown. I love everything about it. The cinematography, Morricone’s beautiful score and of course it stars Kurt Russell. What’s not to love?

If you haven’t seen The Sixth Sense yet, you will NEVER guess the twist at the end. WOW!

John Carpenter’s The Thing is his masterpiece. The greatest remake of all time. The greatest Sci-Fi/Horror film of all time. And the more I see it, the more convinced I am, that come the end, MacReady is The Thing.

If you’re thinking about buying a new VCR, Betamax is the way to go. Far superior to VHS and if it was me, I’d go for a toploader. It’s less to go wrong.
