North Table Mountain, basaltic mesa. Outcrops of miocene basalt flow, ‘lovejoy basalt,’ very distinct from surrounding geography because the pores hold water much better than the soil. Vernal pools, ephemeral falls, wildflowers in late winter/spring. Nice and ghostly in autumn
