South Sudan is the leading oil producing country in East Africa. But the oil is not a blessing but a curse. Over approx. 600,000 people in South Sudan suffer from the pollution of their drinking water by the oil industry.

Eleven years ago, on 9 July 2011, South Sudan became independent. Until today, the youngest faces state big challenges. More than seven million inhabitants of South Sudan are dependent on humanitarian aid. More than half of the population suffers from extreme food insecurity.

Sign of Hope helps people affected by the floods in #SouthSudan. 250 households, mainly women with children and elderly people, receive large food parcels containing maize flour, lentils, cooking oil and salt.
