An example of the Jackson films replacing people's memory of the books. The difference between Jackson films fans and Rings of Power fans is the Rings of Powers fans know their thing is an unfaithful adaptation. Jackson fans don't seem to be aware. TLDR Elrond never says this.

D&D art being whimsical, showing people in a multitude of social and exploration and resting scenarios as well as combat, does feel old school to me. D&D having all combat art is something I equate with 3rd edition. Not old school tsr D&D.

If tacos and sushi appeared in a old school module people would point to it as the cool gonzo nature of D&D back in the day. And new school people would point to it as a racist trope in old school D&D. And it might be both. Everything that is discussed on here is pointless.

The books have a lot of Palantir moments that are very important and large reveals and hinted at throughout the text. Checkovs Gun could be called Tolkiens Palantir.

Sauron is not an eye. The eye of Sauron is most likely in reference to the Palantir he has. There is some debate on if the eye is meant to be his own wisdom and foresight amplified by the Palantir. But there is no debate on if Sauron is a big giant flaming eye.

Engagement algorithms tend to bury earnestness. And I realize LOTR lore is the lowest stakes version of this. But when someone says "Guyladriel" or "why does Cirdan have a beard". That gathers engagement from people agreeing and people pointing out how both are lore accurate.

A lot of people have problems with the lore accuracy of Rings of Power. A weirdly unmentioned lore diversion is Sauron referring to himself as Sauron. I can understand how confusing it might be if he never did but it's not a name he used. It is in fact a pejorative term for him.

Not to give free political advice but the reason the couch joke works and the other one doesn't is because all you have to say for the couch joke is couch and I'm not even willing to tweet about the details of the other one. 🤷♂️.
