We’re a network of Lower Hunter groups fighting to have the reckless diesel/gas fired power plant in Kurri Kurri scrapped.
The Hunter Valley, NSW,
Joined May 2021
This was the right decision by @Bowenchris The #Hunter Community was promised a power plant that runs on green hydrogen and that's what should now be delivered. We look forward to seeing Paul Broad replaced by someone who can deliver on this promise

If the #KurriKurri plant can only run on #gas and diesel, then it shouldn’t be built at all @Bowenchris @AlboMP

Standing with @KyleaTink, part of a new generation of inspiring politicians working to end the destructive and dishonest politics that has enabled dirty projects like the #kurrikurri gas plant to go ahead #auspol

In the hotly contended seat of #Hunter - bordering the #kurrikurri gas plant site, candidates are predominately against this project (yes, some for very questionable reasons!) #auspol #AusPol2022

Let's be clear on where candidates in the #Paterson electorate, home to the #kurrikurri gas plant, stand on this obscene project. While there are some *very* questionable reasons, the majority are against it. #auspol #AusPol2022

everything the LNP have told us about this plant is a LIE. it will not do anything, will not fund itself, will not bring workers or energy we ‘so desperately need’. it will be worthless and a waste of taxpayer funds. #ClimateActionNow #auspol

The total cost of Kurri Kurri has blown out to more than $1 billion, it won't have much storage, and it won't use hydrogen.

A damming article by energy expert Ted Woodly about new information showing that the gas plant is not "hydrogen ready" (as it was promised) and will cost over 1 billion dollars. https://t.co/xOduxxV8UG

It's just laughable they are claiming the Kurri Kurri gas plant will emit "negative emissions." It's like saying I was going to eat 2 chocolates today, but instead I only had 1. So I ate negative 1 chocolates!!! That isn't how maths works, you still ate a chocolate.

The EIS for the Kurri Kurri lateral pipeline has been released, so it's time to get writing those submissions to let the department know we don't want the pipeline or the gas plant to be built. https://t.co/YH6jAT6qjk

A good news story! Further proof that the jobs vs the environment narrative is outdated and wrong. Investment in renewable energy = investment in jobs.

The Government's own energy advisory is saying that the future of gas is "uncertain," so why are they ignoring the facts and wasting $600 million of public funds on the Kurri Kurri gas plant??? https://t.co/kIVRBafAOu

55,000 people said no to this gas plant. We are in disbelief that, despite experts and locals saying it is not needed nor wanted, this insane project is getting off the ground. 🤬 #nokurrikurrigas

A hot Kurri Kurri: why Labor’s fossil proposal is even worse than the Coalition’s. No gap in supply is expected before 2030 and there is a seldom-used gas peaking plant 50 kilometres from @snowyhydro's controversial gas-diesel plant. @LEANAustralia

The Kurri Kurri gas plant proposal makes no financial sense, involves a billion-dollar subsidy, is unfit for purpose and there's a gas plant nearby

The Kurri Kurri station makes no economic sense. It’s $600 million of taxpayer’s money on a polluting fossil fuel project that will only raise electricity prices and will become a stranded asset as renewables continue to ramp up. What a waste. https://t.co/rCY8Wawvac

Every time the Morrison Govt has asked, we’ve said no to #KurriKurri gas plant. 65% of the Hunter said no when polled, only 2/262 submissions on this plant were for it. @AngusTaylorMP & the Morrison Govt don’t care what communities want - only about their gas industry mates

#kurrikurri gas plant is bad for the Hunter and bad for Australia. @AngusTaylorMP appears to lack all commitment to regional communities to transition away from fossil fuels
