LRADs are targeted beams of sound, so you want to move perpendicular to the target area to get out of the range. Moving forward or backward will not protect you, you need to move quickly to the left or right to get out of the targeted sound beam.
LRAD stands for Long Range Acoustic Device, a weapon capable of producing highly directed sound which can disorient and cause permanent injury. This can be mitigated with sufficiently advanced hearing protection, but otherwise requires moving out of the effected area.
