@TeessideHospice I’ve learnt talking about death and dying can give a new perspective to life and change the way you live. It can move us to act and get things done in our lives, and it helps us to savour the moments and appreciate what we have.

@TeessideHospice This Dying Matters Awareness Week, Teesside Hospice and Hospice UK are helping communities around the UK to come together to talk about having those end-of-life conversations, whether with colleagues, family, or friends.

@TeessideHospice We provide human resource services to many companies across the region and as an employer myself how comfortable are you talking to your staff who may be affected by a pending death or a bereavement?

@TeessideHospice All too often barriers, including lack of confidence, taboos around discussing death, often means individuals don’t get the support they need. I can talk from two perspectives my own personal experience and with my work head.

As a proud Trustee at @teessidehospice, you may not be aware this week (6-12 th May) is Dying Matters Awareness week and the subject this year is ‘the way we talk about dying matters.

So, let me start. Having lost both parents to cancer I know how hard this conversation can be. But if it’s inevitable, then why do we shy away from talking about it?
