My goal is to never wear a suit again for business. I don’t know why we decided suits represent money and professionalism...time to change that bias and perception

@hpierrejacques I can’t speak on boardrooms because I’m not there yet but, as a male poc, it’s necessary to be taken seriously in the field.

@hpierrejacques As someone in the fashion industry I see the flip side of it. I believe that we should comfortable and happy in our clothes but eradicating professional and formal dress codes creates new issue.

@marissadanid Don’t think they should be removed, just the perception of the status without them

@hpierrejacques World War I - Americans led by a civilian in a suit closed out the incestual squabbling of a bunch of aristocrats wearing fake medals.

@hpierrejacques I’m torn on this for one reason and one reason only. I have so many suits and dress clothes. What am I going to do with them all?

@hpierrejacques I generally concur but I’d note two things. If you don’t fit in, you might not see the rules around acceptable informal dress codes. Also, if you’re at risk of not being taken seriously then a suit can help you get taken more seriously.

@hpierrejacques Perception formed back when they used to wear suits to the grocery store and to bed. They gradually phased it out to only professional settings. Needs to be phased out completely…only as a choice.
