I'm trying very hard to just exist today and not be full of flail and anxiety. This starts with getting coffee and reading a bunch of flash fiction.

I made it safely to Seattle with only a little hiccup. My flight was amazing (wonderful flight staff who gave me free things, even though they didn't need to, and a row to myself) but my luggage did get lost in the Seattle airport. All ended well though and I'm home again.

On a plane to go see my people! I want to be in the cold so badly.

I get on a plane for Seattle Friday night and it's only just now sinking in. It's a welcome break from being in Florida though, and getting to see my partner and friends I have up there is going to be so good for me. Plus gaming convention in Portland!.

Can I just say how great it is to have people who support you in your creativity? I've been in a good space for writing lately and that's been lovely, but it has also helped so much to have my partner not only be supportive but actively encouraging and enthusiastic over it.

Post-storm update: Still no power at my house, but the person whose house we stayed at got it back, so I'm there for now. We all had to purge our fridges and we've been going day by day for food because no one can get ice even now. Hopefully there'll be less of that now.

So, today is technically my birthday but it's not exactly been a great one. If you're up for it, leave me something cheerful, or spooky (your choice) for me to enjoy while I'm hiding in a hotel room and waiting for my power to come back.

Just a note to say that I'm okay. We're at a hotel in Orlando for now and the power is still out at our house but the house itself took no damage. We'll see how long we're without power though.

We've made it to where we're staying for the hurricane. We're still in Tampa but it's the best we could do. At least we're not at risk of flooding here, I think. Trees are a different story but we'll just have to see.

In the process of packing to evacuate. Haven't checked on what things look like for the general Tampa/St. Pete area, but we can't really go far either. Plan is to stay at a friend's house until it passes. We're able to bring all our cats with us too, which is good.

I need to be a wakeful human at a reasonable hour later today. However, I just want to stay up for the rest of the night so I can fiddle with various things. Why do bodies require sleep? This is an injustice.

And here's the one for toady. All of these seem to be doomed to be creepy/spooky and I'd apologize for it, but I'm having a great time.
