South Africa is on the brink of breaching 100 000 pedestrian fatalities on our roads over a 20 year period. In the last two decades, over 35% of fatalities on South African roads involve pedestrians. Cumulatively, there is almost a 60:40 split between vehicle driver / passenger

Over the coming years, this new design will change how this street is used. If well kept by the City, the more pleasant environment for people will be good for business and property values. Time will tell.
[WATCH] Lilian Ngoyi Street (formerly known as Bree Street) in Johannesburg CBD has finally been opened to traffic after two years. The street was split in the middle in July 2023 by an underground gas explosion. @JusstAlpha
