⚠️ One crew from @StMarys54 remains on the scene working with onsite staff to extinguish the fire. There is still a significant amount of smoke and steam in the air so local residents are asked to keep windows and doors closed.

Huge thanks to @wightlinkferry who were brilliant today, helping us get 2 fire engines over to the IOW, @Southsea24 & @Lymington43 to provide cover whilst crews dealt with a large incident in East Cowes, especially as they are so busy with #IOWFestival - really appreciated!

We’ve had a number of calls into our Control Room this morning reporting the flaring at @ExxonMobilFAW site. If you do need to dial 999 always try to provide as much information as possible so @hiwfrs_control can respond to your emergency appropriately.
Due to a process interruption, we currently need to use our flares. The use of our flares is completely safe and controlled and we are working to minimise duration, and any disruption to our host communities. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Earlier this afternoon control mobilised @WinchesterStn30 and @Redbridge53 to a male who had fallen approximately 5m down a riverbank. Crews rescued the casualty using Safe working at height equipment, and handed him over to @SCAS_HART @SCAS999. Great job by all involved!

We have been advised that Exxon Mobil Fawley will be using flares this evening.
We wanted to let you know that later this evening we will be re-starting units we recently took offline. This process requires the use our flares, which may be visible from surrounding areas. We are working hard to minimise any disturbance. Thank you for your understanding.
