What happens when you train w/ a long bat? This study measured hip/trunk rotation & separation w/ diff weight & length bat. In short, long bats tended to increase hip/trunk separation & trunk angular displacement More explanation in the post:

When college batters switched from normal to choke-up grip in this batting simulation, their swing time was not changed, but their timing was late and lower half force output (GRF) was delayed Timing & peak GRF were delayed when they switched to the choke-up condition

Good article to start your baseball training research reading: Sergio & Boatwright (1993) showed an 8% improvement in bat speed with D1 college players over a 6 week training period. This is about as simple and effective as it gets. W for specificity
