Earlier this year, our 7th grade class had a ropes course experience. Ropes courses are known to strengthen group bonds, allow for creative teamwork, and push students to explore the edges of their comfort zones in a safe space.

The 11th-grade students studied William Shakespeare's Hamlet. They explored a modern, psychological understanding of the unique, multidimensional, and ultimately tragic characters of what is considered by many to be the greatest play ever written.

Healthy competition and team inclusivity are cornerstones of the athletics program here at Highland Hall. Each student gets playtime and the opportunity to learn to play a competitive team sport.

As part of the Age of Discovery block, the 7th grade studied the West's fascination with silks and spices from China and India. The project included a written and oral report and a board game that showed their explorer's journey.

Thanks to the swales and berms that out volunteers, sixth and seventh graders, and the water shed that the old gardening assistant created, we have saved a ton of water from recent rains and avoided a flooding in our veggie garden.

The 9th and 10th grade Art History block transported our students back to the prehistoric caves of Lascaux in southwestern France, and Altamira in northern Spain, both from the Upper Paleolithic period. They were then asked to draw what they saw.
