Artists: You took care of everything in your pre-release checklist, delivered your music to DSPs, and can't wait for release day.
Now what?
Here's 4 ways to amplify your release & try to have as much impact as much as possible:
1) Press
Consider hiring a publicist (or doing cold outreach yourself to editors & writers) to try and garner media coverage like a premiere, writeup, or interview.
Press is a great way to reach that outlet's audience as well as establish credibility.
1.1) You can usually find writers / editors on social media with a quick search of that specific outlet.
Make sure you're pitching & approaching in a thoughtful, intentional, and polite way.
2) Music video
In 2022, most people digest music with some sort of visual element. YouTube is the biggest streaming service in the world & there's a reason why.
What's more engaging - listening to something you can't see or watching a video that helps tell a story?
2.1) Ideally you have a music video to accompany the release of your song that you can use in a few ways:
-Pitching to press for coverage
-Giving you something to post on socials
Most importantly, it can serve an entry point to the project by making people curious.
3) Subscriber list
Do you have an e-mail or SMS list you can send to? For example, a newsletter or an account with
@superphone
or Community.
Any extra visibility is important and always helpful, plus you're going directly to your fans.
4) Social media posting
And not just once or twice lol. It kills me when artists post once & think they've done their job.
Out of all the followers you have, only a fraction see your posts on their timelines. The more you post, the higher the chances you reach more people.
4.1) Your fans are busy and not everyone will catch the first post you make. Or the second. But the more you post, the more people you'll reach who haven't seen it yet.
Each post is a "bet" or a "shot" at getting seen & heard.
