The Flare Rich List shows the combined total per address, including native $FLR, $WFLR, staked $FLR, and $sFLR balances. We may consider including pool collateral in the future, but for now it accounts for less than 2% of the circulating supply.

The difference between a good song and a great song is often the hook. If writing hooks isn’t your strong suit, it’s okay to seek help.

So many artists feel boxed into a sound or style that first resonated with their audience. The key is to train your fans to expect growth and understand that human development and artistic evolution go hand in hand.
Rod Wave says he doesn't want to be known as the sad artist anymore📍 Joe Budden: "pardon my ignorance but do you have happy songs?" Rod Wave: "see sh*t like that will make you be like, I don't want to be the sad n*gga... every time I walk in the room, b*tches be like damn... I

The advance is always the carrot. The terms are always the stick. The terms are purposely written in a different language. And it's not always the terms that are there that will get you, it can also be the terms that are absent, or the terms intentionally made ambiguous.
How bad was Hit-Boy’s original publishing deal? “Hit realized his contract had no end date and existed perpetually for the rest of his life.” INSANE! If you’re a songwriter or producer, it’s easy to prioritize the advance. Always check the term length.

Great breakdown - this is actually one of the most misunderstood metrics in the music industry
Every week, someone screenshots an artist’s monthly listeners and writes: “How do they have 20 million listeners but only sold 8K first week?!?” Let’s go over why this stat is one of the most misunderstood in all of music. It might just save a few of you from looking dumb 🧵

Spectacular thread. I wish they would make it a private metric that only the artist can see so all the dumb posts can stop.

So next time you see a post with a screenshot questioning an artist’s popularity or legitimate growth based strictly (and likely disingenuously) on their Monthly Listener count, remember: it’s just a snapshot in time of how many people heard at least one song.

The Monthly Listener stat CAN be useful, primarily for gauging current visibility and momentum. But it is NOT a reflection of relationship depth, fan loyalty, the ability to sell hard tickets, or community.

It’s best to view monthly listeners like IMPRESSIONS on social media. It is a measure of total reach. Fans are active listeners who go out of their way to press play. Most monthly listeners are passive listeners who hear a song because the service serves it up to them.

Let’s say a song lands on a popular playlist. The artist will see a massive spike in monthly listeners. But then, when that song comes off the playlist—or the DSP makes changes to their algorithm—the listener count can drop just as fast. THIS IS NORMAL. NOT IMPLIED FAILURE.

2 things affect monthly listener counts more than anything: 1. Editorial playlist (like RapCaviar) adds 2. Recency, meaning how recently an artist has released new music on their profile

The Monthly Listener count is a rolling 28-day total, not an indication of lifetime popularity or current fanbase metrics. The number literally resets every single day. If someone streamed a song 29 days ago but hasn't streamed it since, they’re no longer a listener.

First: monthly listeners are not fans. They can be fans, but that’s not what’s being measured. Monthly listeners are the number of unique DSP users who’ve streamed an artist’s music at least once for 30 seconds in the past 28 days. That’s it.

If you're interested in learning more about publishing, start here.
Songwriters lose money every day! Not because their work isn’t good, but because they don’t handle business early enough. I spoke with publishing vet and @SundaeSongs co-founder Debbie Rose to uncover the most common early-career mistakes. Here’s what you need to know 🧵
