John was a true wizard in his craft and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of musicians and audio engineers. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Hazel, his family, the Blizzard Music Team and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

He made sure that every note from the 190 performers on stage sounded as perfect as possible. His expertise and dedication were invaluable, and his warmth and humor made every moment more enjoyable. We were incredibly fortunate to have worked alongside him on this project.

He played a key role in the World of Warcraft: 20 Years of Music concerts as an audio consultant for Blizzard’s Music Department before becoming more deeply involved, supervising the recording and mixing of the concerts.

Then in 1996, he moved to Los Angeles and became a defining force in film and video game soundtracks, shaping the sound of The Lord of the Rings films and contributing to game franchises like Star Wars, Assassin’s Creed, and Blizzard titles - including WoW, Diablo and Overwatch.

John’s legendary career began at 16 years old at Abbey Road Studios, where he worked as an assistant engineer on The Beatles’ Abbey Road LP. Over the years, he honed his craft, recording orchestras at Abbey Road and collaborating with music icons like Elton John & Ozzy Osbourne.
