Watching the "don't pirate comics" debate unfold again on Twitter and impressed by the increasingly inane reasons pirates are trying to justify why pirating is OK. Incidentally they're the same folks that complain when publishers have to cancel series due to low sales.

The biggest fallacy in the "comics are dying because they're woke" argument is that there actually isn't a set way that comics should be written and drawn; because comics naturally flow with the the public that reads them; and you can't keep referencing the 80s and 90s.

I’ve noticed that disgraced artist Ethan Van Sciver, so-called leader of online harassment group ComicsGate, is trying to whitewash the abuse the group aims at usually women, POC, LGBTQ+ folk in comics. He forgets the internet has receipts. Don’t pay attention to him & his ilk.

The die-hard "I only read printed comics" reader need to remember that the push into original content by both ComiXology and Substack is not necessarily aimed at you, but at growing the audience for the medium as a whole — supplementing, not replacing, print.
