Share a snippet of someone in your story apologizing:. Does it count if it's not really an honest apology? 👀

Querying an agent who requests full manuscripts on their general form feels like cheating if I list it as "an agent has my full".

Someone publish my other books so I can start writing the trilogy I've been dreaming of. Thank you.

Have fun with it! Add things, delete them, make your text neon green, search for a pink cloud to use it to frame the slide in a smoky effect (It looks great on my pitch for The Faerie Intervention!). I can't wait to see what you guys come up with in the next pitch events ❤️.

Content is up to you. Sometimes you need to expand on themes, sometimes short tropes work best. Maybe you'd rather write the first lines of your book, or maybe shorter snippets. As you can see in my examples, I vary from project to project.

For sizing images: 1200 x 600 pixels when you have 4 images (like the agent's guide), 700 x 800 pixels for 2 images posted, and 1200 x 675 pixels for a single image.

What colors to use? In Canva, whenever you add a background, it automatically recommends a color palette. This is why I recommend starting with a bunch of pictures first, and you either color-pick from the images with your editing tool, or let Canva do it for you.

For fonts, follow the same logic of Cohesive Contrast. Pick one for titles for consistency, use uppercase sparingly, play around with effects and shadows to add color, and ALWAYS prioritize readability. Titles and loglines should be readable without opening the post.

Write a pitch, not a blurb. Your snippet will already be long, so try to use less text in the other slides by keeping the pitch to one paragraph. I also recommend using a short line in a different format that will catch people's eyes. Think of those lines written on a book cover.

You don't always need to go for high color contrast, but do try to make each slide unique in background and layout. If you use the same background on all of them, similar blocks of text, and you worry about everything being centered and symmetrical, you lose a lot of impact:

Cohesion and Contrast: You want things to match, but you don’t want everything to look the same way. Colors are so important to make things stand out. Here's an example with another of @myleejmiller newest projects:

To start, pick a theme, make a moodboard, and explore your aesthetic before you jump into making graphics. Once you have a selection of pictures, it’s a lot easier to decide on color palettes and the overall mood of your project.
