What fun we had on Friday at the Year 6 Leavers' Morning! Here are some pictures - speeches in the Cathedral, Zig Zag rounders, dancing, body music, shirt signing, leavers' books and hoodies.

Welcome back Years 2 and 4 who are joining us in school today, along with our children from Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, not forgetting our key worker children. We hope you have a brilliant time seeing your friends and teachers again. #returntoschool #becomeHCS

Reception children had a fantastic trip to Pizza Express this morning. The children enjoyed making margherita pizzas, having a tour of the fridge, freezers and prepping stations and asking the chef lots of insightful questions! Thank you Pizza Express for hosting us.

At the start of the half term break, 42 Year 5&6 pupils went on a two day Art & Drama trip to London. They visited the V&A museum, watched an exciting and colourful performance of Matilda and enjoyed a visit to the Tate Modern. A busy but enjoyable time was had by all!

Twelve more Year 5&6 pupils volunteered at Hereford Food Bank UK during half term. Thank you to the Food Bank for hosting them, they all enjoyed the experience.

Lots of fun was had by all at our Castle Hill Holiday Club (CHHC) during half term. Here is some of what the children have got up at CHHC so far this academic year!

The Year 4&5 show 'Snow Queen' arrived with a BANG this week! The Year 5 children acted very well and they weaved the tale of the Snow Queen thoughtfully and with feeling. The Year 4 dream dance involved some great UV special effects. A truly magical and memorable show!

Well done to children in 6J on their form assembly yesterday. They transported us on a journey back to Ancient Greece where they met Aesop, a Greek fabulist, who introduced them to three of the stories that he had written.

Well done to our NSEA riding team who returned home from the County Showjumping Qualifiers on Sunday as County Champions, having won the 70cm class (qualifying for the nationals in April). The team consisted of Florence M (HCJS), Milly M-J (HCJS), Evie D (HCS) & Heidi W (HCS).

Reception children took a trip to Café Ascari last week. Each of the children placed their order at the counter and enjoyed a milkshake and a piece of toast. Upon their return to school they enjoyed creating their own café in the classroom!

The Pre-Prep children (Years 1&2) have treated parents to two wonderful performances of their Christmas production 'Hey Ewe' this week. The children performed so confidently and naturally, and we are all very proud of them.

Well done to the Colts A team who won the regional In2Hockey regional qualifier this week. The squad of 10 will now go through and play at the West of England Finals in March. A special mention to one of their number who was asked to demonstrate her slider pass to everyone else!

Tomorrow is day 3 of our #NineDaysofGiving. The day's charity is the Samaritans. Donations of biscuits and healthy snacks for Samaritan Listening Volunteers at the Hereford Branch. Each month the Branch answers approximately 1500 calls & the team of volunteers work day and night!

We are on day two of our #NineDaysofGiving and today it's all about the British Heart Foundation. Thank you to those who brought in items and thank you to Year 6 pupils, Jonty and Sam for sorting the donations!

What was for lunch today? On the menu today, amongst other things, was vegetarian chilli and rice, salads, treacle tart, chocolate rice krispie squares, dessert pots and fruit.

It's day two of our #NineDaysofGiving tomorrow, and we are asking for donations of unwanted clothes and toys for the British Heart Foundation.The BHF raises money to research cures and treatments for heart and circulatory diseases. Thank you.

What's for lunch today? On the menu today is vegetarian cottage pie, four cheese ravioli in a tomato sauce and a selection of desserts including ginger sponge and custard, fresh fruit and dessert pots. Every day this week we will be posting a "What's for lunch today?" post.

Day one of our #NineDaysofGiving and the window sill in Miss Toolan's Music Room is full of shoes! Thank you to all those who donated shoes for UNICEF today.

We are looking forward next week's #NineDaysofGiving initiative. Each morning, the children may like to bring in an item to donate to the day’s nominated charity, in order to fill our windows. Thus we will be filling advent windows at school, whilst emptying them at home!

The Nursery children always enjoy their weekly visits to Mr Wright and today was no exception!
