He actually started in Prague, but I don't have any examples from there, alas.

A 16th century printing odyssey: Eliezer ben Yitshak Ashkenazi from Lubin, to Constantinople, to Tsefat, back to Constantinople, back to Tsefat. (his fonts traveled to Damascus after his death to print the first book there in 1605-6!)

Really wonderful post from Noam Sienna on recent footprints. Come for the books, stay for the snarky comments by a Sultan about the Inquisition: .

Trying to understand why a printer in Mexico in 1807 would be interested in Napoleon's deliberations relating to the Jews. @ronisito, was this maybe for a crypto-Jewish audience? ("Hey guys, let's move to French-owned lands. ").B893.19 C16

Finally finished this @ShabbosReads (hey, things have been busy, & some chapters were. rough). Shoutout to @YakovZMayer's EXCELLENT chapter on orality v. materiality of the Talmud re the 13th and the 16th century burnings. @perurealfonso's piece Alfonso de Z was great as well!.

Read the articles in the first part of this book @ShabbosReads. The chapters by Debra Marques de Matos, Avri bar Levav, and Pavel Sladek were particularly excellent for history of the Jewish book re: Iberian printing, paratexts, and print/manuscripts overlap, respectively!

Carried home a large picture frame today (on the subway to the bus, etc.) and realized it blocked most of my body. This must be what carrying a shield felt like. But heavier.
