The Flood Control District is a special purpose district providing flood damage reduction projects with appropriate regard for community and natural values
Harris County, Texas
Joined June 2015
We’ve taken a program that began as a list of concepts and grounded it in reality to maximize benefits, leverage partnerships, and keep the promise we made to voters in 2018. Read more about the future of the 2018 Bond Program: https://t.co/4BBuLlq2IA…

One way we support riparian health is through seasonal selective clearing. Instead of removing everything, crews carefully take out hazard trees, invasive species, and blockages while leaving native plants in place. 🌳

A riparian corridor is the strip of land along bayous, streams, and rivers where land and water meet. 🌿 These areas—often full of trees + native plants—help: • Reduce erosion • Filter runoff • Support wildlife • Manage stormwater

Our #MaintenanceMatters crews used drone technology to apply targeted treatment to this water hyacinth infestation in a stormwater detention basin near 290/99 in @HCPrecinct4. This helps us control the invasive species while reducing impacts to the surrounding environment.
