This Friday, Mad Song will perform Tristan Murail's Treize Couleurs du soleil couchant. The work was inspired by Claude Monet's painting Impression, soleil levant. Murail's response is a gorgeous work of impressionism, blending the instruments as Monet blends colours.

Tailleferre started writing her Trio in 1916 but the First World War prevented her finishing it so it wasn't until 1978 that she finally completed it. The result is fantastic, synthesising gorgeous impressionism and colourful neoclassicism. Hear it this Saturday!
