#SLPeeps #SLPros #voicetherapists will look for muscle tension while you perform vocal tasks, and also may palpate the larynx to feel for muscle tension. Part of our role is to “unload” the tension. Sometimes, as a result, your voice might crack, become breathy, or just feel off.

(9/10) My 2 cents for #SLPeeps #SLPros #voicetherapists? Make space for it, acknowledge it, respect it, and maintain your professional boundaries.

#voicetherapists work with performers (and others) on rehabilitating the speaking #voice and/or #singing voice, depending on the injury and behaviors that contributed, or are affected by it. Those who work on the singing voice (like me!) are considered Singing Voice Specialists.

(6/10) Mental health care and life advice? Not my scope. People who are licensed, certified, and trained in mental health care can help, and I’m happy to help find someone for my patients. I WANT to help, but it’s not what #SLPeeps #SLPros #voicetherapists are trained to do.

#SLPeeps #SLPros #voicetherapists: If you aren’t working on your patients’ voices in the context of how they speak, what is the purpose of #voicetherapy? Let’s talk about this conundrum. THREAD 1/11

8/9: Some (maybe all) of your instructors may need individualized attention. Invest NOW instead of waiting until there is a voice injury. We are here to help! And as always, if you have voice concerns, a good #laryngologist is key! So are we #SLPeeps #SLPros #voicetherapists !

For my #voicetherapists do you have experience with exercise induced laryngeal obstruction? Is it in our scopes of practice? #voice #voicetherapy #slpeeps

@WCMMentoring Not only does good body language show confidence, it can also help you breathe more fully and use your #voice better, so that you soeak with confidence, too! It’s something we #voicetherapists #SLPeeps #SLPros work on with our patients every day. #voicetherapy #SPIVoice

Interesting read! #SLPeeps #SLPros #voicetherapists teach prolonged exhalation for various #voicedisorders (think PVFMD/VCD, chronic cough) and similar techniques are used in psychotherapeutic biofeedback (think HeartMath). Can we beat fight or flight? https://t.co/qDw2GoUkgM

For #COVID survivors, the work that we #SLPeeps #SLPros #voicetherapists do is going to be extremely important for improving breathing, voice, and swallowing function. The challenge for us is how to do it safely. https://t.co/oHSetAKh3q

Each day of Zoom meetings and therapy leaves me more exhausted than a week in my office. That’s not an exaggeration. I’m happy to provide services to my patients, but I am depleted at the end of the day. How are you coping #SLPeeps #SLPros #voicetherapists #voiceteachers?
Zoom fatigue is real. Focusing on mult ppl once & worrying about how you appear when speaking requires more mental energy than face to face mtgs. The view is unnatural: prolonged eye contact with enlarged faces on a screen and loss of many nonverbal cues. https://t.co/xix6x7sxfs

This is a fantastic read from @seyvoice - Is Technique Sexy?? IMO YES - and when I work with a singer it’s important that I connect with their teacher (or find them one) to stay consistent. Read it #singers #performers #SLPeeps #SLPros #voicetherapists #voiceteachers
