@8BitBas @shazzdoe Open top/bottom is very easy.. simple d011 trick on line $f8 by heart.. not sure #blurred. Opening sideborders is more tricky.. I'm not an expert either, but it's based on the same d011 trick, but then d016.... every fucking rasterline! Blehh

@Merk_Gang i had a feeling that was always possible. technology is pretty advanced now so it's not too crazy to replicate the cel style. I'd wager you can make an 80s anime using modern techniques without people noticing black sideborders and all.

@shazzdoe Open sideborders are on my to-do-list too. I know the principle, never got to the execution of it.

that's the reason there has to be an ergonomic modulation system inside mesh systems. so that the inside is the same height and possibly a bit higher than the sideborders. i'm not aware if the herman miller mesh chair achieves that balance of stability and modulation.

@SyntaxErrorSoft @functiondemo The picture is in bitmap mode with multicolour sprites in the side border. 1600px tall. So it streams from disk and scrolls up the screen (with sideborders open) at 25fps. Definitely not the easiest thing that I’ve coded.

@CodingAndThings Not much to learn if you're coming from C64. CPU is 6502, VIAs are 6522. One can trigger IRQ, the other NMI, like on C64. And the $d418 sample playback also works, but of course in the $9000 region. Overscan display is even easier, sideborders are open with a few pokes.
