Very good post from Sharon Hayes...Worth your time. Most Alberta separation arguments fail before they even get to equalization. They start with the assumption that Alberta “sends money away” and would magically fix its problems if that stopped. That assumption misunderstands

Look at your paycheque. Ottawa takes over $5,000 a year from each Albertan and sends it to liberal provinces through equalization. This is why Alberta independence matters.

Alberta is not being taken advantage of and the government of Alberta is paying zero dollars towards equalization. It's BS designed to confuse people who don't know how the system works. Now ask yourself why many of Pierre Poilievre's spread this misinformation 🤔 #Equalization

@MichelleRempel I'm Albertan and AB gets billions from the FEDS yearly that benefit our industries but aren't considered equalization -- we ARE NOT BEING CHEATED https://t.co/libMh85oAN
The Federal government has been constantly attacking and Alberta for a decade and how much more of this can we take? Look at this list! Infuriating!

@Reil76 @Jennife74733215 Quebec needs to have hydro added to equalization. It's not fair that it is not included in the equalization calculations. That should calm down some of the western alienation problems. I'm an ex-Quebecker. We have been on welfare since 1957. It needs to end

The Alberta Separatist Naysayers need to have a closer look at the chronic and critical poverty in Canada created by Equalization Payments - and understand this through the lens of, "Welfare Begats Welfare". These are the people saying, "the United States will Takeover Alberta

I believe collaboration by Western Canada (Yukon / NWT / BC / AB / SK / MB) would be very good for Canada and great for the West. (Ever heard of “Atlantic Canada?”) A better outcome than whatever some define “separation” as. Fix EQUALIZATION and COLLABORATE. We all win. Pls RT

@MD4CEO @mrsunshinebaby Show me a viable strategy that does not include any fantastical assumptions that are out Alberta's control. Alberta will be working every angle from a position of weakness. We'd get robbed blind. But hey NO EQUALIZATION PAYMENTS!!

@SKivimaa The fact that majority will think this is just over pipelines or equalization is astounding. The Veteran's warned us to keep watch. CANADIANS forgot. Look where we are now. NWO Communism Albertan's did not forget. We will NEVER Allow communism, socialism or fascism in Alberta.

@WBrettWilson @ikwilson Alberta has endured decades of futile failed attempts at collaboration with no other western province standing up to support us one bit to solve unfair equalization or any of the other ways Alberta has been exploited and pillaged by Eastern Canada Why should Alberta suddenly

@DefazioIvano Alberta just needs to actually cut off the equalization payments. Like not threaten but actually do it.

Poilievre supports equalization payments - despite having to reclaim an Alberta seat...where we voted a provincial majority to eliminate them. They get it...they just have to continue on this welfare grift - robbing from our Province - to keep support from the East. That's why
They don’t get it. This isn’t a negotiation It’s evolution for survival Keep dictating what Alberta is “allowed” to do @MelissaLantsman, see what happens. You’re selling independence with every syllable.

Save yourself the time: this is an EXTREMELY long and ultra retarded way of saying that the provinces who don't recieve equalization pay the provinces that abuse our taxdollars and if we were to separate and pay for ourselves we would keep our money ☺️ Also. COVID didn't shut

@MichelleRempel Nothing short of a major rewrite of the Constitution, along with a major change in equalization would make me reconsider my position. And don't get me started on the list of laws that need to be changed or repealed. The list is too long to even attempt it.
