Today Nina successfully defended her engineering degree! She managed to work out a process to get nice ~100 nm films of our PBS copolyesters on coverslips and last week we did a quick-n-dirty cell adhesion experiment. We can see adherent—live—cells on the films! #matsci 1/n
@KeyenceUSA It's hard to make out, but for the 1% PCL in THF films the roughness is due to spherulites—the microstructure of the semicrystalline polymer. Film thickness is lower too: ~70 nm vs ~110 nm for DCM. Next, diploma student Nina will try our copolyesters! /fin
