I refurbished these pieces of furniture by using a technique called cerusing. They were golden oak colour before I sanded them down.

Cerusing—also known as "liming"—is the application of white-pigmented, non-toxic wax sealers to porous wood to bring out the natural grain without changing its color. Photo: Jason McGrail #RealAmericanHardwood #AmericanHardwoods #wood #bathroom #cabinets #cabinetry #vanity

Outdoor surroundings aside, the texture a solid black stain gives with white cerusing pulls out the grain like none other! To add a metal element, the legs were given gold metal "cuffs." #texture #cerused #cerusedwood

Highlight wood's natural grain pattern with cerusing! Start with a stained piece of wood, followed by thin coats of polyurethane. Once dry, apply an additional stain in a contrasting color, working it into the grain. Wipe with a clean cloth to remove any excess. #DIY #HowTo

Here’s the other one with one coat of natural finish. Debating cerusing it with gold to add a bit of pop as you may or may not see on the sample piece…
