Allotments and gardens hold the most bee species. At city scale, gardens are most important by far. Pollinator conservation in cities is about improving the management of parks and gardens, and increasing the area of allotments #PollCon19 https://t.co/xCMZB7GUAj

Aaron Iverson #PollCon19 is measuring floral resources at landscape scale, based on floral area. This correlates with bee and ladybird abundance, but not hoverfly abundance. Excellent work.

And some important results showing that pollen trapping, even for 20 days continuously, does not influence honey bee brood production. #PollCon19

Queen honey #bees often fail. Alison McAfee is finding out how to tell when this has been caused by heat stress, perhaps in transit. Safe temperature range for sperm viability in queens is 12.9- 39°C #PollCon19

@Squash_Bee reports on fascinating and terrifying findings of the effect of a neonic on the inability of a Hoary squash bee to forage pollen and form soil nests. Pollination and fruit set not affected. How? So many questions! #PollCon19

George Hansen from https://t.co/MPVH8da43N at #PollCon19. A commercial beekeeper's perspective on the impacts of land use on #bees. Nothing for pollinators in these landscapes (hazelnut orchard; commercial forestry). It doesn't have to be like this!
