Hyginus(14) reported that Philoctetes, the son of Poeas, who went to Troy, was one of the Argonauts, but it was impossible to participate in both expeditions. Nestor, the oldest of the Troy expeditions, but Periclymenus, the oldest brother, joined the Argonauts expedition.

Many historical sources describe Melanthus, who was exiled to Heracleidae and emigrated to Athens, as King Pylus. Melanthus, however, was a direct descendant of Periclymenus, the eldest son of Neleus, but not of Nestor, who was joining the Troy expedition from Pylus.

Pausanias(7.2.3) reports that Minyans of Orchomenus were related to the sons of Codrus, Athenian King. Codrus's father, Melanthus's father, Andropompus's father, Pentilus's father, Borus's father, Periclymenus's father, Neleus's wife, Chloris, had married from Orchomenus.

Ismene is familiar as Antigone's meeker sister, but in a racier tradition she was killed by the thuggish Tydeus (one of the 7 v. Thebes) on Athena's order when he found her having intercourse (the word προσομιλοῦσαν is as ambiguous in Greek) with her lover Periclymenus. UNFAIR!
