One of the most important parts of the medieval monastery was College Garden, which was used to grow food and medicinal herbs, and had an orchard, fishponds and beehives. The gardener's expenses are recorded in these handwritten accounts in our archive. #ManscriptMonday

Among the documents in our archive is this inventory from 1267 which lists the gold and jewels taken from Edward the Confessor's shrine to be pawned by Henry III. It includes a promise to restore them before the re-dedication of the Abbey two years later. #ManscriptMonday
