#FutureOfDiversity tone deaf advertising? - as so often in UK class suffuses so much. Geezers and regional accents promoting DIY, vans and gambling in ads penned by private school kids ๐Ÿ˜‚

Targets can be useful but also be a tick box exercise that donโ€™t reflect cultural change. Need to look at culture properly and effect change based on a full understanding and acceptance of white privilege. Really listening to the experience of black people. #FutureofDiversity

Pipeline issues can be fixed but if culture doesnโ€™t change people of colour& from other under-represented groups will leave. Retention, mentoring, support, coaching all necessary. Otherwise it means the media industries lose talent-how much talent have we lost? #FutureofDiversity

#FutureOfDiversity great points about the practical barriers for young people trying to get work experience. I love the simple but true answer - โ€˜pay them!โ€™

#FutureOfDiversity good to hear people discussing the advertising - the wider industry increasingly loses sight of the work

#FutureOfDiversity structural change is largely driven by government policy. From end 19th Century to 1979 wealth became more evenly distributed. That reversed with advent of neo liberal economics. If you really want change relating to equality you need to vote for it
