South Downs Way overnight fastpack. Beautiful and brutal. Really a route for a full sus mountain bike, not a light grav bike with 40mm tyres laden with bags. Probably the hardest hundred miles I’ve done, although Devil’s Dyke by headtorch was memorable.

The most obvious use case for this would be any design where an enemy has a fastpack or some other kind of external addon. You already designed the mech, so a second phase is already built into the design. A lot of games don't do this, tho
I would honestly like to see more multi-phase boss fights in mech games. Despite the genre that probably works best for that, there are very few. Mechs can transform, rearrange, jettison parts, etc. It's like the perfect setup.
