🌺 Throw in the fact we're not dissospec, most of the mindscape is fictives, and a rather loose and free-form relationship between cohabitants, and it's a major source of anxiety even talking to other plural folks, let alone anyone else.

yes, I am saying that the point of 'medicating' -- pathologizing -- dissospec/schizospec/plural folks is to force them to be 'normal' the same way ND kids are forced to be normal, not to rid them of an illness the way we work through or medicate depression, anxiety, PTSD, BPD.

in actual fact, this conversation should probably also be led by ADHD, autistic, and otherwise neurodivergent folks, because IME at least dissospec/schizospec/plural experience overlaps far more w/ ND than it does w/ MI conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, BPD/Bipolar

forcing dissospec/schizospec/plural folks to "be normal" isn't accommodation or acceptance. it is most certainly not "treatment", any more than it is for autism, or ADHD, or being queer or trans. /thread

forced institutionalization might not be One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest anymore, as my wife put it, but it's honestly not that different based on her experience. we treat dissospec/schizospec/plural people who aren't able to mask well little different than we did 50 years ago

this is why the experience of dissospec/schizospec/plural folks under 'reformed' psychiatry/psychology hasn't actually changed much -- because nothing fundamentally changed for folks whose conditions aren't easily medicated or worked through in therapy

@fiversdream And yeah, gods, conflation of rather mild mental illness (or just an emotional rough patch) with "mentally ill" is another huge one... Way too many with basic depression/anxiety who suddenly pull the knives out when a plural or dissospec or schizospec person speaks up.

Mental illness will absolutely not go away under communism and if you say it will it shows that you are perfectly fine with institutionalizing and torturing schizospec, dissospec, plural, and otherwise 'severely mentally ill' folks.
