Shashwat Anand defending his PhD with a global audience including family in India! While we wish we could cheer Shash on in person, we're thankful for this upside to a virtual defense. #thermoelectrics #compmatsci

Lot of people treat computational technique as black box but I feel that if you open that black box and just have a look inside, there is a greater potential that you can extract. #CompMatSci

Are there research papers that address data splitting strategies in comp matsci? E.g., when working with Materials Project (MP) datasets for ML (generative modeling), what alternatives exist beyond the standard random train-test split? #machinelearning #compchem #compmatsci

@yerbaenjoyer Why does compmatsci seem to get singled out for more cuts than even other parts of BES?

Our manuscript "Do Lead Halide Hybrid Perovskites Have Hydrogen Bonds?" has just been published @JPhysChem C. Our theoretical assignment of the experimentally measured Raman modes clearly shows that the answer is a definite no! https://t.co/k4iHJ3dEmq

This workshop was really fun (and really productive). I highly recommend taking a look at this for perspective from many of the biggest names in #CompMatSci
A collection of ideas from field experts on user requirements for a general materials research platform. Available @Matter_CP. Special thanks to @CranfordMATTER for helping us reach out to the community with a #MatterOfOpinion.

@MolecularXtal My view is while we've come a long way, some low-hanging fruit still for up grabs ito making the CompMatSci stack more interoperable (needs standardization/high-level planning) and running more smoothly incl. setup (needs software engineering). Basically a NumFocus for MatSci.
