Pierre Jaquet-Droz was born on July 28, 1721, in La Chaux-de-Fonds, in Canton Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The town would become a major watch- and clockmaking center in the 19th century, and at the time of Jaquet-Droz’s birth, the region already had many clockmakers.

Before Geneva, Joure was a center of clockmaking. Frisian tail clocks hung in Dutch farmhouse hallways from the 1780s through 1875. And are still beloved nowadays. Every clock hand-painted dials showing villages and farms. A unique piece for every owner.
