The outrage on this post reminds me, in 2016, a close friend advised me to join Andela through their bootcamp I had just cleared form four, learning Java There was similar outrage from experienced engineers, as the program was very strict, a very demanding bootcamp, 40k salary

@__ciox__ Andela was great then. There was traction. I joined Andela (2017) when we were a handful. Many of us had alot of psyc for learning tech. I don't know where the robust community went. It's quite different this days.

@gnkalonzo Walk into any company that does serious engineering in Kenya and you will find Andela alumni there. You have to choose whether you want to massage your ego as a Senior engineer, or choose to learn and be ready for a very uncertain future in software.

@__ciox__ @iamukasa Sahi maybe wakuweke saf haha. Safaricom sahi imejaza tu Andelans. Shida n wengi najua pia wanatafuta side hustle. Wengine bado wako na dreams za Microsoft. But the old Andela guys I know in the community work for Github. As you said they were lucky and took their chance.

@WEGNERJOASH ALC died around 2020 when they changed business model. Seems they’re reviving the bootcamps, and community. There’s a number of bootcamps (this one, and a k8s one), and meetups -there’s one next week, but seems exclusive for those in talent network.
