So next trivia night when you're asked "Name Australia's first Computer", don't answer with #CSIRAC (1949). The correct answer is Gerald Lightfoot (1909)! Refer the quizmaster to my tweet. #australia #computers #robotuprising

If you go to Melbourne, you can see the CSIRAC (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Automatic Computer). It was the first computer in the world to play digital music, way back in 1950!

My ridiculous chiptunes-inspired work for violin and tape, "Theme and Variables: Scallops and Bollocks for Tea" is being performed in Chicago this weekend, you should goooooo. It's also a love letter to CSIRAC, the Aussie computer that was the first in the world to play music.

#WorldIntellectualPropertyDay focuses on how creative minds can drive positive change. This is CSIRAC, the 1st computer in Aus. All the hardware it required would fill a room. Now, thanks to innovation, we have much more powerful computers in devices as small as a watch!

Such good memories of seeing CSIRAC at my first @linuxconfau in Melbourne at PDNS. I ended up winning the "First Computer Mouse" book which I read to my kids for years (futurist mice living underground were messing with the CSIRAC paper tape) #lca2020

Before there was ChatGPT, there was CSIRAC. πŸ–₯️. CSIRAC was Australia's first computer. It filled a room the size of a double garage and required enough electricity to power a suburban street. Learn more about our first computer: πŸ“· | CSIRAC in 1952. #TBT
