I've long wondered why base64 isn't about 1/4 as long as base16 (given 64 is 16x4). finally clicked: 16 = 2^4, 64 = 2^6. so... base64 encodes 6 bits per unit (character), whereas base16 encodes 4 bits per unit. 6 = 4 * 1.5. so base16 will be ~50% longer than base64, not 4x.

"wtf are we looking at??" Soooo the only things relevant are the key box, the math right below it, & the binary below "SIDEWAYS". I was doing my binary wrong for a page and a half yes. The shelf is in rows of 4, which we convert into base16 hexdigits (key).
