There are some outliers (like the host country team in 2009 - Chinese Taipei, with an avg age of 22.8). When analyzing only the 4 teams (au, ca, jp, us) which participated in all 4 events, the age still goes slightly up (from 28.5 to 29.2)

As the WG data sources seem to contain player birth date information for the last 4 world games, it is possible to check for example the average age of WG Ultimate players - which seems to be creeping up (from 27.6 years in 2009 to 29.5 in 2022)

Finally got a new update pushed to my Ultimate National Team database. There are a number of tournaments from 2022 and 2023, which are still on my to-do list, but at least now the World Games information is pretty complete.

I guess is time to check if Realm (with Atlas) or Firebase would work for me. The remaining option is to use a database on my own server, but then I need to handle all the server side development as well including API setup and authentication. Oh well… 5/5

Also seeding the database during development gets a little hackish (copying a prepopulated SQLite database from app resources to the database directory during the first app launch…) 2/5

Seems that neither Core Data with CloudKit nor CloudKit alone work well for my use case for storing YouTube video tagging data for my iPad app. I want the data synced online but CoreData with CloudKit does not use the Public database. 1/5

Note to self: In the future, please please please, try to be better in separating the data / model from the UI layer. Makes changing the data backend much easier, or at least less painful. #randomiosdevthought

Note to self: When using CloudKit, trust the documentation and experts: Limit the number of round trips. For my simple use case, fetching multiple records in one go meant going down from 25s to 3s… #randomiosdevthought
