🧵 I set out to build a fullscreen animated background for a client. What I thought would be small graphical abstract extra became a full on debug journey deep dive into ThreeJS and shaders (once again). Here's the full journey 👇

4/ Final result:.- Wavy randomly animated color bands.- Uses only ThreeJS + WebGL shaders.- No video, no PNGs — pure code.- Renders at 60fps fullscreen.- With random offset on reload. Drop a like/comment and a follow if you like my content. I'm available as both a designer and

3/ As I wanted it to be less psychedelic, more refined and graphical I wanted it to lean more into strongly bordered waves. The colors are metaphors for feelings. As it is a website for a psychotherapist. I didn't want it to be squirrelly. I wanted it to be calm but still.

2/ Spent hours adjusting the shader logic, thinking it was the math. Been debugging hours from bottom to top logic. Turned out the plane wasn’t even rendering. Switched to an orthographic camera, adjusted the zoom and depth. The colors appeared — but it wasn’t what I wanted.

1/ Started prototyping with some organic noise and blended colors. Worked in fragment shaders, hooked in time and seeded randomness. Nothing showed. Just a white screen. No console errors. Just… blank.
