Beide scenario’s stemmen me niet hoopvol. Ik hoop dat u dit begrijpt, en dat u bij uw beslissing de komende weken goed nadenkt wat het beste is voor Vlaanderen, wat dat dan ook voor uzelf betekent. Hoogachtend,. Een ouder (uit naam van mezelf, niet de genoemde school).

Ofwel trekt u naar Genk, en dan komt er iemand anders op onderwijs. Koffiedik kijken of dat dan de persoon is met passie voor onderwijs die we nodig hebben. Ofwel blijft u op post, en hebt u mij net het gevoel gegeven dat u liever op een andere post zou zitten.

U geeft mij met uw uitspraak het gevoel dat het voor u slechts de volgende politieke post is. De stapsteen naar de volgende verkiezing, en dat stemt mij enorm triest.

Wat ik jammer vind, is dat u, na slechts een week, al aangeeft dat u liever Burgemeester in Genk zou zijn, terwijl u op zo’n belangrijk mandaat zit. We hebben een minister nodig met een passie voor onderwijs. Iemand die met visie moedige beslissingen maakt.

Dus ploeteren die scholen verder. Tegen de stroom in, uit pure noodzaak. Gedragen door ouders, die voelen dat hun kinderen hier nood aan hebben.

Er zijn wachtlijsten voor dit type onderwijs, dat momenteel zelfs in geen bestaand type buitengewoon onderwijs is in Vlaanderen. We hebben het over een groep kinderen die kunnen excelleren als ze de juiste zorg krijgen. Een aanpak die vaak niet lukt in een gemengde klas van 25.
