Apple Vision Pro is very impressive. But what Quest 3 delivers for $500 is more impressive than what AVP does for $3,500. Disclaimer: I know they are made for completely different purposes.

Since this seems to have triggered some folks: the keyword here is *setup*. The guardian setup is the problem. It's annoying enough that people draw quick circles to get past it, eliminating any safety benefits. Quest 3 is perfectly capable of automating this much better than the.

Guardian -in its current form- feels like a plausible deniability feature rather than an actual safety feature.

I'm hoping that the lack of proper direct interaction in bounded Apple Vision Pro experiences is temporary. But if this is their permanent direction to avoid vergence-accommodation conflict at the cost of UX (i.e. nothing closer than 1m), then we have a problem.
