How I ended up in prison. The second time.
I once burglarized a home & stole a safe. I cracked the safe & discovered photos of the owner molesting a child. He reported the burglary to police. I turned the photos in. The cops called him in to discuss the burglary. He confessed. We both went to prison.

For the first two weeks of December, IBEW Local 6 (San Francisco) will be accepting applications for the inside wireman apprenticeship program. Journeyman wage is currently $91.25/hr plus benefits. This apprenticeship changed my life. Folks with felonies are welcome to apply.

I said it 8 years ago and I’ll say it again today: We are living in a Philip K. Dick novel.

When I stand up for other felons, I often get the line: “But, Matt, you’re not like all the other ones. You know this.” No, tell me about the “other ones”. What do you really mean?

The purely pejorative nature of the word ‘felon’ has unveiled itself completely in the past few days. My “allies” scornfully call Trump felon. My Pro-Trump detractors call me felon. No ironies lost.

Ordered myself a new fridge this morning because I don’t feel like paying $1000 more for it in 6 months.

Did you know? Rio Grande LNG has made ~$950,000 in charitable donations focused on community development and supporting 60+ local organizations.

And, since it keeps coming up elsewhere, he’s a person of color. Not a white man.

He had started going to college. He didn’t seem to party any longer. He was trying to focus on raising his kids. Sometime in the last year, he found God. And, since finding God, he also found Trump.

During our time in jail together and ever since, he was always so kind. He never acted out his wild streak with me around. When he came home again a couple years ago, he seemed different.

I should point out that this is a man I was in jail with. We shared a cell during our darkest hours. When he came home from prison, he struggled a bit with alcoholism and generally with “catching up on lost time / youth”. He ended up back in prison.

I replied with, “Given the language you’re using, I guess the vote fits”.

A friend of mine who I thought had a good heart voted for Trump. I messaged him about it, asking how he could vote for a rapist when he’s got little girls. “At least I didn’t vote for a whore”. I was taken aback. There’s a lot of stuff hiding in people we think we know.
