The moments when human engineers make better decisions regarding software and data architecture than an LLM are becoming fewer with each update, but here's one: Claude models still use an IVVFLAT index for pgvectors, even though HNSW performs much better.

Quality of Claude Code goes down every friday evening and is the worst on every saturday and sunday. What if @AnthropicAI would create a separate weekend plan to keep it up running? If you already turn down your models on the weekend into a cheap old Llama 2, why not letting

just realized how risky global components are when coding with claude. had a central, global dual-mode component showing two data views, which was used across many pages and other components, and told it "remove the index-mode for this new subpage" and it happily removed it from

A Rant About Apple's Pathetic First-Party Software Let me get this straight: Apple, the trillion-dollar company, the self-proclaimed arbiter of "it just works," has never been good at application development. Hardware? Sure, gorgeous. OS kernel? Solid enough. But the moment we

Berlin startup secret nobody talks about: Half the CEOs won't install microwaves in the office because of 'radiation' but will gladly spend 12 hours a day staring at 4 screens while vaping mysterious liquids. Priorities.

My Hot Take: The "Vibe Coding" Debate is Missing the Point Gen-X engineers: "Gen-Z can't code without AI. No fundamentals." Gen-Z engineers: "We shipped 3 products while you were refactoring." Both are right. Both are wrong. The data: - Gen-Z founders are hitting unicorn

What actually happens when your execution engine calls in sick? GitHub explodes with issues - and everyone just decides to take the day off, apparently. 😌

This makes some intuitive sense - startups that everyone immediately agrees on might be more obvious bets, while those that spark debate might be pursuing more contrarian or breakthrough ideas that have higher upside potential if they succeed.

Funny: Disagreement among IC (Investment Comitee) members - rather than unanimous agreement - can actually be a positive indicator of a startup's potential success. This counterintuitive finding suggests that when investors have differing opinions about a startup, it may signal

Firefox plugin coming soon. Learnings: Firefox and Chrome APIs are fundamentally different (plus Manifest V3 on Chrome vs V2 on Firefox). I had to build an abstraction layer first. But FF makes one thing beautifully simple: you can reload extension code and test instantly.

Your browser has 100 tabs open, music is playing from somewhere, and you can’t find it - but you’re scared to close anything? Wellcome in my life! 😭 So I built my own Chrome extension. No cloud. No tracking. Just a clean, local solution that turns all your chaos into one tab
