I have just enough restraint to not go into how this effects me personally but there are so few "acceptable" ways to publicly exist as an abuse victim, once you're aware of how eager people to dismiss it you can't unsee it.

& I don’t even think there’s anything wrong with talking about his childhood abuse as how it ties into the cult and the circumstances of his relationships, but that’s not what people do, they just pick and choose tabloid headlines for a cheap gotcha.

I wish people thought about the message it sends when they reply/quote posts like these talking about how they hate Tom. You don’t need to like him to have empathy re: the subject. Really I wish people did not need a prior level of investment to feel sympathy for victims.
Ngl the fact that the biggest movie star in the world was abused as a child and processed that trauma through his art up until his early 40s has helped me become a lot more forgiving of myself and how I’ve tried to overcome the mindfuck that is childhood domestic violence.
