But we have to talk to our coworkers, form our organizing committees, and take our organizing out of the group chats and off of twitter. The time for action is now! SCHOOL UP! FIGHT BACK! DARE TO WIN!

The only way we will win is by talking to our coworkers and meeting them where they’re at. Most UC ASEs don’t even know that the TA exists! If we strike now we can out organize and out vote the opposition who’ve foisted this TERRIBLE DEAL upon us.

This tool kit has the information, strategy, and materials necessary for us to SCHOOL UP and win this NO VOTE. GWUP and the UCSC Organizing Committee hope that workers across the state will put this tool kit into practice. Join the school, fight for what’s ours!

UC workers, do you want a union that sells our peak strike power for a 1.4% raise? Did you join our union to be an outsourced Labor Relations department, or do you dare to win the fruits of our labor? It’s time to SCHOOL UP and VOTE NO on the TA ->

This thread is a TL;DR version of why you should vote no on the TA. But if you're looking for a longer resource to aid in your conversations with coworkers, we've put together a "no on the tentative agreement" toolkit with our @gwup_ucsd comrades. Use it!

The UCSC UAW 4811 organizing committee recommends that you VOTE NO on the contract extension. Unsure what this is in reference to? you’re not alone! Here’s some context. 🧵

We learned last week that since our spring strike, UC quietly offloaded their direct investments in 4 genocide-profiteering companies. UCLA also announced a transitional funding program for workers this Fall. Our strike is paying off – now workers get to decide how to proceed. 🧵

dear friends, matbakh el balad, our humble protest kitchen born during October 17 protests, is now collecting cash and in-kind donations, to cook meals and send food parcels to the communities sheltering in Beirut. You can get in touch with me directly for this.

Dollar Lunch Club is working with mutual aid groups in Beirut to support the Lebanese people as they endure yet another Israeli bombing campaign. Please consider donating whatever you can in this time of crisis.

On August 19th and 20th, the UC administration ratcheted up their summer campaign of intimidation and strikebreaking by sending written warning letters straight from the University Office of the President to hundreds of workers at UCSC.

Make UAW's statement more than just hollow words in a press release. We know the Harris campaign has been calling: tell them what you know they need to hear. (10/10)

Not some down-the-road winnowing of support, but an end *here and now* brought about by the present administration—an administration in which Harris still serves, despite the sudden electoral reconfiguration. (9/10)

This is a lucky break for our union: a chance to do better than the won-and-wasted Biden endorsement. Hold Harris to the demands of our local, our international, and the larger labor movement—demand an end to military aid to Israel as a precondition of any endorsement. (8/10)

Here we must be clear: the lives of Palestinians cannot be "set aside" for political convenience or partisan loyalty. This crisis is exceptional; it is not like previous moments. (7/10)

UAW endorsements are routinely accompanied by token phrases like "despite differences," "setting aside frustrations," or "overlooking dissatisfaction." (6/10)

We are well aware of the comfortable relationship between large unions and the Democratic Party, often facilitated by such endorsements. In our lifetimes, UAW has endorsed every Democratic presidential candidate—albeit often through gritted teeth. (5/10)

We appreciate that you haven't yet jumped to endorse Harris, as have other leaders on the left. While she is not Biden, her role in the current administration and its support of the genocidal occupation yet demands our concern. (4/10)

This call echoes and amplifies those from many UAW locals, including our own. Our leadership has stated that "the dismantling of the occupation and apartheid system" is urgently necessary—a sentiment endorsed by a mass member vote last year. (3/10)

This week, UAW commendably joined other major unions in calling for the Biden administration to immediately cease military aid to Israel. Per the statement, this is "necessary to bring about a peaceful resolution to this conflict." (2/10)
