Same quarter split into two 80 acre fields farmed independently until combined this year. Pic 1 area is rich in nutrient supply only requires 60-20-0-0 for 90 bu wheat. Pic 2 tanked nutrient supply requires 115-45-33-11 for 90 bu wheat. Mistakenly applies 60-20-0-0.

WesternAg optimizations aren’t just about N. Very high yield potential canola here. These fields had high P supply (therefore not deficient) but very deficient on S. Optimized/applied rates on the pics.

The last several years have been off and on drought. Coming off one or multiple years of high N applied and low N removal is the background that leads to elevated N. This oat field is the only zero N rec for 2025. No N applied here.

We presented our rec of 125 lbs N for canola to this client. He asked to revise it trimming the rate to his budget and still giving a shot at a decent crop. 85 lbs applied.

This field has been in bloom since June 26th. Fungicide app July 4th. Sprayer tracks now quite overgrown.

Applied N requirements for high yielding spring wheat can easily be 150 lbs or higher. I was out touring some fields yesterday where we applied lower rates due to elevated N soil supply. This field had 75 lbs N applied so half of required N will be supplied by the soil itself.

11 years ago I made an applied N rec of 0 on this field due to high N supply from the @westernag test result. Client texted from combine to tell me that the wheat was running over 90 bu. At the time was the highest yield I had seen. Applied 50 lbs N this year looking just as good

The 2025 wheat crop that has been so seriously affected by drought still has some cards to play. One card is a late tiller response to recent rains that may take advantage of the open canopy and proliferate if conditions stay favourable.
