AQCNES is out now🚀 A Quasi-Continuum Non Equilibrium Solver has been open sourced! It is a C++ codebase in which finite temperature QC (and atomistic) simulations of solids can be done. It comes with a tetrahedral mesh handling library (qcmesh). Code -

Performed Kelvin-Helmholtz instability flow demonstration in my lecture on Advanced Fluid Mechanics. Usually, this demonstration is done in water or fluids with smaller kinematic viscosity than air. Lecture link - https://t.co/XWYZOtLH2g

We took flow visualization to the classroom today! Using a simple laser-smoke visualization setup on a small 3D printed wind-tunnel. More flow vis videos - https://t.co/PHIXG2mzdy Course notes and material available - https://t.co/CXwI6rjMuL

Crystal healing, Aromatherapy, Palmistry, Numerology, Astrology, Ouija board, Tarot card reading,... Which pseudoscience will be awarded the Nobel prize this year? 😂 Take your pick.
The 2024 #NobelPrize laureates in chemistry Demis Hassabis and John Jumper successfully utilised artificial intelligence to predict the structure of almost all known proteins. What groundbreaking discoveries will be recognised with a Nobel Prize this year? The announcements will

My laptop running a flow past a cylinder simulation on my own code, supporting my 3D printed desktop tunnel with a somewhat similar Reynolds number smoke flow visualization. Computations supporting experiments in today’s academia!

In today’s Indian academia, those who practice all the textbook unethical practices are celebrated for producing better human beings! It’s a wonderful time to be an Indian academic. Let alone penalties, you will be rewarded for being a bad academic!

I am interested in knowing how and from where were the machines to build this were procured. Because it is staggering that these folks can figure building microprocessors but not how to fix drainage issues. If things are only assembled here, then it is only a shame.
VIKRAM, the inaugural fully "Make-in-India" 32-bit microprocessor, has been developed by ISRO’s Semiconductor Lab and was presented at Semicon India 2025.

Exclusive: Just two months before the Apr 22 attacks there was an unprecedented spike on Maxar's portal in orders for satellite images for Pahalgam. (1/n)
theprint.in
Maxar Technologies began receiving orders for high-resolution satellite images of Pahalgam in June 2024, just months after a Pakistani geospatial firm indicted by the US became a partner.

Yeah but just one correction “We can’t tell India to lay down their arms and we can’t tell Pakistan to lay down OUR arms” In another news, Trump had claimed that “they have been fighting for centuries, if you think about it”. -Centuries-!
#BREAKING: US Vice President JD Vance says India-Pakistan conflict is 'fundamentally none of our business and has nothing to do with America’s ability to control it'

Point being, no amount of road-network is useful without traffic law enforcement. Accidents due to potholes will be replaced by accidents due to unlawful driving and speeding. But dikhawa important hai!

Cruising in his hydrogen fuel-cell car on roads cleared by police! Inhe kya pata jab wrong-side fastest lane mein speeding Creta waale aate hain to kaisa khauf lagta hai. Over-confident incompetent Indian uncles!
🚨 "The changes this year and next year will be so significant that earlier I used to say our highway road network would match that of the US, but now I say that within two years, our highway network will be even better than the US," says Nitin Gadkari.

In this paper in @JFluidMech, we study the mixing of inhomogeneous mixtures due to a field of random shock waves. Interaction of baroclinic vorticity and nonlinear diffusion of different species results in interesting mixing dynamics. https://t.co/bfucbJD8Tg

Indian academia is dead. How else can we justify a group of academics in a meeting speaking about work relevant to the meeting attendees in a language not known to every attendee? “When the band you’re in starts playing different tune, I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon”

docs - https://t.co/VQZduXcNxv Seeing the code grow and knowing that I started it has been humbling. Much smarter students and coders have worked on it and it is their efforts which made this possible. Thanks to the support and encouragement from @DennisKochmann for starting it!

We use this theory to calculate the heat transfer and shear at the foot of the shock wave and match with 2D DNS too! I will be presenting this work at @ictam2024 next week!

Congratulations to my MS student Krishna Sahithi for getting her work published in the Journal of Acoustical Society of America ( https://t.co/k9SEbBi7YW). In this work, we develop an asymptotic theory of nonlinear propagation of weak shocks grazing past walls.

After the recent blast of QS rankings, I just want to say, if you have to use a “lower rank” university to justify why your “higher rank” is better, then you know which university is better!
