On this day in 1970, Sir Alf Ramsey rejected an offer to take over at Benfica. Had he accepted the post, who would have have been handed the reins as @England boss, do you think? (And of course, led the national team at that summer's World Cup finals in Mexico.)

'Easy, Easy' was recorded the previous day (Sunday 17 February). It was penned by Phil Coulter and Bill Martin, the songwriters-for-hire duo also responsible for 'Back Home', the 1970 England World Cup squad's rousing singalong.

#MOTD action #otd '73 from Div. 3 - #Bournemouth 2-0 #Bolton (Barry Davies) - and #Ipswich's 4-1 home win over #MUFC in Div. 1 (John Motson). That same day, the Hibbitt brothers, Kenny and Terry, were on opposing sides as #Wolves entertained #NUFC - and both scored in a 1-1 draw!

From the Glasgow Herald, 13 February 1978, reports of a Dutch plan to include Johan Cruyff in their World Cup squad but only fly him over to Argentina should Holland make the semi-finals. Had it happened, would it have helped or hindered the Dutch cause? What say you, @BlogEFI?
